On hearing the news of two victims being burnt by acid, the DSF team from Lahore rushed to Faislabad and visited the patients in Allied Hospital. Uzma Miraj Din and her little daughter Noor Fatima acompanying her were injured while they were stepping out of the rickshaw in a shoping area. In the other incident Tahira Rukhsana (from Chiniot) was attacked by a relative. Her husband lives abroad and a male relative started visiting her house too frequently. On her leluctance she and her little daughter were victimised.
The patients were registered and assured of all possible support. The team also had a meeting with the hospital staff who complained that due to shortage of electricity the air conditioners do not function. In this scorching heat weather the burnt victims are required to be kept in the cool.
Unfortunately, one victim Uzma Miraj Din could not survive the injuries and died after a few days. –The two little girls received minor injuries and were treated in the hospital. DSF has made arrangements for required surgical procedure for Tahira Rukhsana and she will be treated by the visiting German doctors’ team in the near future.
While in Faisalabad DSF team also visited Hotel One and held a meeting with the Manager. Negotiations are underway to seek employment for the survivors who have been successfully treated and given training.
Team DSF takes pride in sharing success stories of the brave survivors who are associated with us. Under shelter of Depilex Smileagain Foundation they have undergone series of surgeries, many have received vocational training and are respectfully employed.
We strongly urge positive forces, philanthropists, change activists, capable business and commercial organizations to come forward and help us in reviving the lives of these sufering survivors, through in kind or cash donations. We rely on hope in conjunction with our efforts.
