Women Media Cell team from Naval Headquarters interviewed Masarrat Misbah and DSF team for their in-house radio and TV channel. Projecting women’s rights Masarrat Misbah brought into light the issues related to violence against women and elaborated that discrimination against women is perceived as part of the social fabric of the country, where gender related violence against women is rising every year.
The DSF victims narrated their stories and emphasized that cultural norms and traditions play a major role as many women are burnt due to dowry demands, young girls are forced to marry old men for maintaining the honor of the family. If they retaliate they are subjected to torture. All participants agreed that education plays an important part in changing the mind set against centuries old traditions.
